Lighthouse of Corrubedo in Ribeira, Province of A Coruña.

We are visiting today the municipality of Ribeira, on the north bank of the Ría de Arousa, in the province of A Coruña. In one of its nine parishes, Corrubedo, is where the Lighthouse is located.

Surrounded by rocks at the Cape of Corrubedo is the lighthouse which was built between 1852 and 1854 under the direction of Celedonio Uribe, engineer and town planner. The Cape faces north to the Ría de Muros y Noia and south toward the Cove of Corrubedo and also to the Natural Park, where the famous dunes are.

We can see the beach of Balieiros from the lighthouse. It is a beach situated on the open sea with strong currents. Swimming is very dangerous. It has a length of 1.5 kilometers that invite us to take pleasant walks because it is not a frequented beach.
