We
return to Ribeira a municipality of the Province of A Coruña located on the north bank of the Ría de Arousa. We will
visit the spectacular beach of Balieiros.
It
is located to the north of Cape Corrubedo, where is the lighthouse and in the Ría de Muros y Noia. It is on the open
sea with strong currents that make swimming in it can be somewhat dangerous. It
has a length of 1.5 kilometers that invite us to take pleasant walks because it
is not a frequented beach.

We
have visited the beach in two very different summer days, one bright and clear
and the other with the weather somewhat unsettled, although nothing serious
because a harsh winter storm here has to be worth seeing.

We
are visiting today the municipality of Ribeira, on the north bank of the Ría de Arousa, in the province of A Coruña. In one of its nine parishes,
Corrubedo, is where the Lighthouse is located.
Surrounded
by rocks at the Cape of Corrubedo is the lighthouse which was built between
1852 and 1854 under the direction of Celedonio
Uribe, engineer and town planner. The Cape faces north to the Ría de Muros y Noia and south toward the
Cove of Corrubedo and also to the Natural Park, where the famous dunes are.

We
return to Tui, on the banks of the River Miño to the south of the province of
Pontevedra. Tui is the entry point of the Portuguese Way of Saint James in
Galicia and has important monuments that bear witness to its history.
As
is known the Cathedral of Santa María
is the most representative monument in Tui. Click here to see our previous visit to the Cathedral of Tui.
We
begin the walk right next to the Cathedral in the Capilla de la Misericordia (Chapel of Mercy). Beside it the hostel
for pilgrims is located. The Chapel of San
Telmo is a few metres down the street. We will retrace our steps to see the
Convent of the Poor Clares (or Encerradas).
After
going through the tunnel underneath the convent we will go towards the remains
of the medieval wall in Porta da Pía
and Ordóñez Street. Then we will approach the Church of San Francisco to finish our walk at the Convent of Santo Domingo.

Today
we return to Arcade, in the municipality of Soutomaior, province of Pontevedra.
We will take a walk of just over 1 kilometer by a pedestrian path from the Beach
O Peirao (also called Muxeira Beach) beside
the port and reaches the medieval bridge in Ponte Sampaio. We will go along the
Ría de Vigo and then the River Verdugo at its mouth, passing by Matilde Beach
and underneath the three bridges that cross the river.

We
return to Tomiño to the south of the province of Pontevedra next to the River
Miño, near its mouth. We will visit the Romanesque church of Santa María de Tomiño, one of 15
parishes that make up this municipality. In this Part 1 will see the outside of

Today
we will visit the port of Arcade. It belongs to the municipality of Soutomaior,
is situated in the Ría de Vigo near
the mouth of the River Verdugo. We will also see the fascinating effect of the
tides in this beautiful place.

Welcome
to the sixth and last chapter of our visit to the Palacio de Gelmírez, in which we see the part of the Palacio built in the 18th century, and
later go down to the ground floor, the Salón
de Armas, built in the 12th century. The permanent exhibition called Espacio Divulgativo del Pórtico de la Gloria
is located in this room.
We
see the Palacio de Raxoi in the Plaza del Obradoiro from the windows of
the Palacio de Gelmírez.
We
are still in the Salón de Fiestas. In
this Part 5 we are going to see the panels and works of the exhibition that can
be seen in this room.
We
are at the same point where we started the visit in Part 4 (click Here for Part
4), beside the entrance of the stairs that bring us here from the Romanesque
old kitchen of the Palacio and from Sala Manrique.
In
this Part 4 of our visit to the Palacio
de Gelmírez we will focus our attention on the Salón de Fiestas or refectory, Gothic, the most outstanding room of
the Palacio.
We
will divide the visit into two parts. In the first we will see the Salón itself with its extraordinary
artistic and architectural richness. In the second part we will see the
exhibition, the panels and the various works exhibited in the Salón de Fiestas.
