The bridge which crosses the River Arnoia, was built between the 1st and 3rd centuries. It has come to our days in good state of conservation, without undergoing modifications.

It was declared a national monument in 1984 it is 57 metres long and has four round arches with buttresses on pilasters to withstand the current of the River Arnoia.

Its construction was due to the need to link through a secondary route the Roman roads Via XVII and the Via Nova (or Via XVIII). Via Nova linked the towns of Bracara Augusta (Braga-Portugal) and Asturica Augusta (Astorga). This route was 215 Roman miles, approximately 318 kilometres.

Beside the bridge there is a nice recreational area.

We are about to cross the bridge.
