Welcome

Welcome to this blog and welcome to Galicia. Greetings from NW Spain.

Galicia is three colours:

The Blue Sea: It coastline has been shaped similarly to fjords (here called Rías) in most of its 1500 kilometres. The Rías protect countless beautiful beaches and bring wealth in the form of their famous fish and shellfish.

Green: It is omnipresent both on the coast and inland. Nature gives us unforgettable forests and natural areas and eternally green meadows in any season.

The Colour of the Stone: Historical Religious and Civil Heritage that we have inherited, from pre-Roman cultures to this day, is characterized by the use of granite as a basic element, in construction and artistically. We must not forget the presence of slate in the northeast area, in which granite is not abundant.

It is also said that Galicia is the land of a thousand rivers. There were small water mills in many places in our country, in which the grain was ground traditionally. There is also a proliferation of dams and reservoirs, especially in the two main rivers of Galicia, the Miño and the Sil.

The inside of the Earth also presents us numerous places in which hot springs highlight, since Roman times.

Finally, or the beginning?, Galicia is the land of The Way of Saint James, of all the Ways of Saint James, the ultimate goal.
